What are you telling the world about yourself? More importantly, who cares what others think? What is your environment and wardrobe telling YOU about what’s going on inside of YOU?
One of my favourite quotes on the planet is Dolly Parton’s “Find out who you are and do it on purpose!” Can’t you just hear her saying that? Since the day I heard it, I have followed her advice and every move has been a deliberate one in finding out who I am. I’ve found it’s worked in leaps and bounds by experimenting with colours! Shocking pinks, sunshine yellows, vibrant purples, skyline turquoise, glorious greens… Isn't it great to see how many different colours there are in stores now? What kinds of things do you feel when you see them? Finally… Now there is a CHOICE! When you wear bold colours, you tell the world you feel GREAT. You tell the world EXACTLY what you want from the day. When you explore and surround yourself with colour, you also bring yourself the opportunity to improve your health, both mentally and emotionally and in this day and age, I don’t need to tell you how those two have a direct influence on your physical well-being! Apart from you looking in your cupboard and recognising whether something suits you or not, your inner being tells you which colour to wear in that moment. Denying this feeling means you could be ignoring a benevolent influence in your life. At least give yourself the option. You know those days when you put on an outfit that you know you look good in normally, but you look at yourself and say “Yuk! I look dreadful!” It’s because that outfit does not reflect what you’re feeling inside at that moment. Classic Black is just… Amazing and mutable! It should never be lumped with other dull colours… But in general dull colours like grey and burgundy and so on and so on, are a way of us suppressing what we’re feeling and whether we realise it or not, we wear it when we want to blend into the background. When we’re doing our sexy thing, then sometimes it’s best to brighten up that little black number with a vivid coloured necklace, or bracelet or even matching shoes and bag / shawl? Despite some of use using colours as an alternative medicine, experts have criticised Chromotherapy as a crooke and labeled it as pseudoscientific… Light therapy (unrelated to colour therapy) has been proven to work! But is light not filled with colours? But then why do colours make us feel different things? For me personally, walking into a coloured room has a significant influence on my mood. Wearing it is an amazing experience all on it’s own. If I wear yellow – I actually notice how many people smile at me as they walk past… In the beginning, I thought it was because I may look like a giant bumble bee in my black shorts and blinding yellow top, but in reality, when you wear yellow, not only do you feel cheerful, you make others around you feel the same. So I say Pseudopffff!!!! It’s even been said that if you are an emotional eater… ask yourself, what colour you equate that emotion to when you are hungry and then wear that colour (it will be different for different people), it should help with the cravings. Wouldn’t that be lovely! All healing starts within and if you can help your within to feel a certain way – I say do it. Since I spilled the entire colour palette all over my life – My life feels amazing!! Having said that… Keep in mind that SOME colours are just NOT your colour and it has very little to do with your mood and more to do with other influences, like skin tone or personality or the weather! I totally wanted a green for my collection – but it just doesn’t want to cooperate! What colour is your life…? |
