Namaste is passionate about pedicures and reinforcing 'me time' with the customised experience for the cabin clients. It's not about painting your toes - you can do that just about anywhere with a complimentary fungal infection... You come here to reconnect to yourself again. "My pedi's are a treasure to my ladies, where they get to experience what it's truly like to be self indulgent with 'me time' where the treatment really is about all of them body, brain and soul. My ladies design their own experience by choosing music for their mood". In the cabin we believe that touching feet is a sign of humility, servitude, respect and sister/brotherhood. You'll find the washing of the feet deeply routed in practical ancient culture when we used to walk everywhere for days and when we got to our destination, our feet would be an absolute disaster. The feet are the most willing and patient servant of the body, ready to take a beating all day long at the command of the brain, sparked by the light of the heart.
Why would anyone love doing feet? Our feet represent our understanding of ourselves. They are the solid foundation on which to move forward in life. If you know anything about reflexology, you'll know that your whole body is represented in your feet and treatments on your feet can really affect your whole body in good ways and in bad. Our feet are generally the least cared for body part and they work the hardest sometimes, which is why we believe that "Pedicures are not a luxury, they are a necessity". As our feet get older they take longer to recover, depending on your habits over your life, chances are you are using your feet in the same way all the time which creates bad patterns. Doing pedis is a good way to keep an eye on your feet to make sure everything is hygienic. Cat has been doing pedis since 2002 and says "Pedis are my favourite and by far the most rewarding pamper treatment because you get very tired, exhausted soles/souls and they leave like I just 'pimped their ride' LOL truthfully it's very satisfying to give one of my ladies a space to just be and give them some love at the same time with some authentic company that result in dazzling toes! It is a bonding opportunity because it can be a very intimate and humbling experience for a client if the therapist really cares, like I do - it's important to me to ensure my clients feel warm, welcomed, loved and respected when they are with me." Some history on where the pedicure started for us The bible refers to it as "Pedilavium" and in ancient Greece, the practice is known as "Xenia" which is the concept of hospitality, generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home and/or associates of the person bestowing guest-friendship. In some cultures touching feet is a menial activity, but then Jesus made it cool to wash feet, and in his humble way taught and exemplified the willingness of divine love to serve by washing his apostles feet, implying that "...he who willingly performs lowly, humble service for others, with no thought for personal distinction, is greatest in God's kingdom." and typifies a cleansing process. A typical Eastern hostess might bow, greet, and kiss her guest, then offer water to allow the guest to wash their feet or have servants do it for them. It was considered unclean and disrespectful to the The-oi to enter a temple with unwashed feet, which is why some temples offered special basins which a travellers could make use of. This custom can be found in many ancient cultures: India, Africa, Gaul, Germany, Milan, Northern Italy, Ireland and at one time the European monarchs performed the ceremony in the Royal courts, which was still practiced by the Emperor and King of Spain up to the beginning of the 20th century. This custom is also observed with the Masons, Freemasons, Hindi, Islam, Sikhism, Jewish and Mormon traditions. |
