Paraffin Wax . The Cocoon

Warm paraffin has been used for decades in hand and foot treatments at spas as well as being used in physiotherapy for: Softening dry, cracked skin, improving local blood flow, easing stiffness in small joints (hands, feet) and mild arthritis pain by gentle, penetrating heat, using the skin’s post-bath warmth plus the occlusive layer, holding that heat in and allowing the oils + natural skin lipids to soak in and boost skin rejuvenation. Derived from purified petroleum byproducts (not the “dirty crude” kind), it is one of the cleanest, most inert substances on earth and was first discovered in 1830s Germany during experiments in fuel purification. Even though it’s "modern", the function of paraffin connects deeply to ancient practices: In ancient Egypt, priests coated the skin with protective oils and resins before ceremony. In Greece and Rome, healers used warm wax compresses on joints and hands for arthritis. The indigenous Healers across Africa used heated fats and oils to seal wounds and protect cracked skin. So paraffin carries the lineage of: Warmth, protection, softening, and sealing of energy after healing work, making it the modern descendant of ancient “soft shields". The Onsen Culture of Ancient Japan used mineral rich hot baths for circulation and softening.

Eucalyptus . The Wind
Eucalyptus is born from the red earth of Australia, where the Aboriginal peoples considered it a guardian tree. For thousands of years, its leaves were crushed and heated to release a vapor that cleared the breath, opened the lungs, and drove away “heavy spirits.” It was used in smoke rituals to purify campsites and protect travelers before journeys. Carried across continents during the age of exploration, eucalyptus became the plant doctors relied on for relief from tight chests, fevers, and overworked muscles. It carries the archetype of air and clarity, the ability to cut through fog, both physical and emotional. In our balm, eucalyptus acts as the wind element, clearing pathways, freeing congestion, energising stagnant healing, and helping the body release what it no longer needs. It is the air that moves through the cocoon to prevent stagnation, inviting clarity and renewal.

Camphor . The Fire
Camphor comes from the ancient camphor tree, native to China, Japan, and Taiwan. For centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it was known as a “cooling fire”. A substance that could reduce swelling, ease pain, and open blocked Qi. Healers would shave thin layers from aged camphor wood and press them into balms to draw out heat and stagnation. Sailors carried camphor with them across the Silk Road and ocean routes, using it to preserve textiles, protect against pests, and refresh the body in humid climates. Ayurvedic practitioners blended it into oils to soften rigid muscles, cool overactive energy, and calm the mind. Camphor is the activator, warrior and catalyst in our balm, inviting circulation, bringing blood flow, shifting the body from tension to release. Camphor is the spark of warmth inside the cocoon stimulating circulation, burning tension and toxins away, moving Qi, by activating, stimulating, igniting, awakening the healing response and process.

Thymus Vulgaris . The Shield
Thyme has one of the richest lineages in plant medicine. They burned it in Greek temples as a symbol of their courage and vitality, believing the smoke strengthened the soul. Roman soldiers bathed in thyme-infused water before battle, trusting it would sharpen their instincts and guard their spirits. In the Middle Ages, thyme was sewn into the clothing of Knights across Europe for protection and worn by women as a token of bravery. Its medicinal uses expanded into treating respiratory issues, infection, and fatigue, being known back then as the herb that pushes back illness and fear. Thyme carries the archetype of strength and purification. In our balm, it is the shield within the cocoon that acts as a purifying Shield Maiden and guardian, clearing stagnant energy, supporting immunity, and offering a fierce, ancient protection. It burns away heaviness, fear, and stagnation.

Sandalwood . The Anchor
Sandalwood, also known as the Tree of Stillness is one of the most sacred woods in human history. Originating in India, it has been used for more than 4,000 years in ritual, meditation, and healing. Its a slow growing heartwood that is considered holy, believed to hold prayers, calm the mind, and bring the spirit into alignment. There is high demand for this medicine and is now farmed in plantations since it has been over exploited in it's native regions and is now protected and considered an endangered and vulnerable species. Hindu priests marked the forehead with sandal paste for protection and clarity. Buddhist monks carved meditation beads from sandalwood to maintain focus and presence. In Ayurveda, sandalwood is the master of cooling the fire element, easing irritation of the skin, quieting the nervous system, and grounding scattered energy. Sandalwood in our balm is the stillness inside the cocoon that combines earth and Spirit, providing deep and quiet wisdom that anchors the formula into our inner temple and Trinity Integration. It softens emotional noise just by breathing it in, whilst on contact, it nourishes the skin, creating an aura of peace and calm around the wound and wearer. It calms the mind, cools emotional heat, and brings deep internal grounding.

Tea Tree . The Warrior
Main active compounds, like terpinen-4-ol give antimicrobial properties: it helps reduce levels of bacteria and some fungi on the skin. It is often used for: Minor skin breakouts, athlete’s foot, mild fungal spots and supporting general skin hygiene. Native to the swampy coastline of Australia, specifically the coastal wetlands of New South Wales and Queensland, used by Aboriginal peoples for over 40,000 years. The tree is called Melaleuca Alternifolia. They would crush the leaves and breathe the vapour for clearing “bad air". Made poultices for wounds, bites, infections. Used branches to create “smoke huts” for energetic and physical cleansing. It is considered a warrior plant because it is sharp, cutting and protective. Symbolically,  it is the ancestor of: Boundary-setting, purification, cutting away psychic debris, warrior clarity, energetic defense and protection. It is the Sword of the plant kingdom!

Arnica . The Root Restorer
Arnica comes from the high mountain fields and high alpine meadows of Europe in places where only the resilient survive like Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Carpathian, known as one of the flowers of altitude, thriving where air is think, winds are sharp and temperatures shift quickly. For centuries, shepherds rubbed crushed arnica flowers into sore muscles after long climbs, calling it the “mountain’s mercy.” Traditional folk healers used arnica for bruises, bumps, stiffness, and the body’s response to impact. They believed the flower held the ability to restore what life had shaken loose. Arnica is sun energy in plant form, which is why the Germans call it a Sun Plant, for it's warm, comforting, golden, and deeply supportive energy. In our balm, Arnica is the Root Restorer, bringing motherly warmth to the coccoon in cold patches, easing the memory of impact, comforts stress of irritated skin, softens tension and reconnects the body to itself. Arnica works quietly and softly in a whisper but powerfully because of it's protective compounds grown in it's roots and petals in it's harsh environment.

Pine . The Watch Tower
Pine is ancient. Long before humans named forests, pine trees were standing tall, rigid, unbroken by storms. Many cultures saw pine as a guardian tree, a symbol of protection, endurance, and purification. The scent of pine needles was believed to drive away negative influences, refresh the mind, and sharpen intuition. Its oil was used to clear the chest, the muscles, and the energy field. In our balm, Pine is the watcher of the coccoon, protecting the skin’s comfort, sharpening the senses with a crisp clearing breath, strengthens the formula’s anti-itch properties, supports the fire of camphor and the wind of eucalyptus, adding resilience and clarity. Pine stands watch over the skin, guarding the edge of a sacred forest. Pine trees are among the oldest tree species on Earth, dating back over 150 million years. They originated across the cold northern forests of Europe, Russia, North America, and East Asia, where they adapted to brutal winters, storms, and long darkness. Greeks burned pine resin for purification. Indigenous North American tribes used pine needles for clearing the air and opening the breath. Northern European healers used pine salves for comfort after long travel, cold exposure, or muscular strain. Ancient Chinese herbalists valued pine for its refreshing, strengthening Qi needles, resins, and oils were always linked to: endurance, clarity, resilience, purification and protection.
